A specialist team will search for a possible person in the remains of a burned-out house on the main street in Rijen on Wednesday. A specialist team is starting an investigation into whether anyone was present in the house during the major fire on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday.

Due to the high risk of collapse, the fire brigade could not enter the house safely. The fire was therefore fought from outside using, among other things, an aerial work platform. Around two o’clock at night it became clear that a drone was being used to look into the building to get an idea of the situation inside.

The possibility that someone could still be present in the home was already taken into account, but no clarity could be given about this at that time.

Specialist team starts search
The search for a possible person in the rubble is being carried out today by a specialist team. It is examined step by step whether it is safe enough to enter parts of the home.

The police are at the house and keep the area cordoned off. As far as we know, there is currently no further activity in or around the property.
