A hilarious video created by the account Artificial Intelligence Secretariat It went viral on social networks and brought into focus an alleged behind-the-scenes of the patrimonial justification that was made known. Manuel Adorni last week. In the edited version created by IA, the Chief of Staff is seen worried in his office while the clerk writes Nechevenko He pressures him to confess where he got his assets from. Around him, the advisor Santago Caputothe ministers Federico Sturzenegger and Luis Caputo and the same Karina Milei They anxiously search, among books and papers, for some solution to the issue. “What if I say that I found it on a pendrive?”, closes the interrogated official.

Since March of this year, Adorni’s financial situation became one of the main sources of political tension for Javier Milei’s government. What began with questions about his standard of living and a series of real estate transactions ended up leading to a judicial investigation for alleged illicit enrichment, by the judge Ariel Lijo and prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita, with contradictory public statements and the use of the “Fiscal Innocence” regime promoted by the libertarian administration itself.

The chronology of the case began when the acquisition of properties and expenses that, according to the complaints, did not seem compatible with the income declared by the then Chief of Staff were put under scrutiny. Among the first questions appeared a home in the country Indio Cuá Golf Club, in Exaltación de la Cruz, formally registered in the name of his wife, Bettina Angeletti. The property was acquired through a deed signed before the notary Adriana Mónica Nechevenko and was subsequently the subject of extravagant large-scale renovations that included expansion work, remodeling and building improvements that raised questions about its financing.

At the same time, at the end of March, attention was focused on the purchase of an apartment of approximately 200 square meters in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Caballito. Registry documentation revealed that the operation was carried out for about $230,000 and that much of the financing would have come from private loans granted by retirees linked to the transaction. The judicial investigation began to especially examine the mechanism used to complete the purchase and the true origin of the funds.

The real estate operation ended up becoming one of the most controversial aspects of the file. According to the documentation included in the case, two retired women appeared as financiers of a substantial portion of the purchase through private instruments. The operation was certified by the same notary Nechevenko, who later testified before Justice. Federal prosecutor Pollicita ordered a series of testimonials to reconstruct the path of the money and determine whether the loans actually existed under the reported conditions.

The notary’s statement opened new questions. Nechevenko explained the formal details of the sales that involved both the department of Caballito and the property of Exaltación de la Cruz, while other testimonies incorporated into the file described a triangulation in which intermediaries participated who accompanied the retirees during the operation. The former footballer Hugo Moralesprevious owner of one of the properties investigated, was also summoned to explain the conditions of sale and the value stated in the deed.

As the investigation progressed, questions also arose about the general evolution of Adorni and his wife’s assets. Various journalistic publications indicated that the couple accumulated properties simultaneously without the prior sale of other homes having been recorded, fueling suspicions about the financial capacity necessary to face these acquisitions.

Adorni’s most extensive public response came during an interview with Jose Del Rio on LN+, broadcast on June 11. There he maintained that he had presented all the required documentation to the control bodies and denied having committed irregularities. “I have nothing to hide,” he reiterated, in line with previous statements. He also stated that the origin of his assets could be explained by a combination of inheritances, savings accumulated over years and financial gains obtained before entering public service.

In that same interview he made one of the most resonant admissions in the case. He acknowledged that he had corrected sworn statements and explained that part of his assets came from investments in cryptocurrencies. According to him, he had invested approximately $200,000 and subsequently obtained profits close to $300,000. He also admitted the existence of funds that had not been timely reported to the treasury and justified this situation with a phrase that generated strong political repercussions: “We save in black, like all Argentines.”

However, his explanations failed to close the controversy. The use of the regime Fiscal Innocence on the part of Adorni and his wife It was interpreted by the opposition as a political contradiction, given that the official took advantage of a mechanism that allows previously undeclared assets to be regularized. Although specialists pointed out that the regime does not prevent possible investigations for illicit enrichment, the decision deepened the debate on the asset transparency of one of the main government officials.

Three months after the start of the scandal, the case continues to revolve around three central axes: the flights and expenses attributed to the Adorni-Angeletti marriage, the acquisition and remodeling of the residence in the country of Exaltación de la Cruz, and the complex real estate operation in the department of Caballito, where the participation of retirees as lenders and the intervention of the notary continue to be key pieces in determining whether or not there were irregularities in the asset growth of the Chief of Staff.
