John Tortorella will not continue in Vegas. PDO
The legendary coach who led the Vegas Golden Knights to the Stanley Cup finals John Tortorella will not continue with the club.
GM of Vegas Kelly McCrimmon informed about it.
The matter has already been practically certain before. Tortorella hinted during the playoffs that it was just a project. Now the matter got the final seal.
Tortorella made headlines several times during the playoffs.
After the Golden Knights defeated the Anaheim Ducks in the second round, Tortorella did not speak to the media after the decisive victory. Contrary to normal, the team also did not allow the media into the locker room after the game.
Only three Golden Knights players were available for media interviews.
In the final series, Tortorella was asked if he was even considering goaltending by Carter Hart pulling away from the goal after several setbacks.
– Oh my god, that might be the stupidest question I’ve heard, he corrected and scolded the questioner.
After the fifth game in Raleigh, he confidently announced that he would leave his clothes at a hotel in Raleigh.
– We will come back here again, he stated emphatically.
The final series was interrupted early Monday morning Finnish time in Vegas.
Tortorella became Vegas’ head coach right at the end of the regular season. He replaced Bruce Cassidy as the team’s commander-in-chief on March 29.
He jumped at the helm of the team when there were only eight games left in the regular season.
Tortorella has announced that he still wants to coach. An experienced coach would probably still find work in the NHL, where a small circle of coaches rotates year after year.
