Then he made official the hiring of Abate who, last season, led Juve Stabia to the Serie B playoffs: “The Torino Football Club is pleased to announce that from 1 July 2026 the management of the First Team will be entrusted to coach Ignazio Abate. The coach has signed a contract until 30 June 2028. The whole club embraces Ignazio Abate again with the most affectionate: ‘Welcome back to Turin! Good job and Always Forza Toro!'”.

Born on 12 November 1986 in Sant’Agata de’ Goti (Benevento), the footballer Abate grew up in Milan’s youth sector, making his professional debut with the Rossoneri jersey on 3 December 2003, just seventeen. He then played with Napoli, Piacenza, Modena and Empoli. He already knows the Granata environment, having played for Torino in the 2008-2009 season. He then played 306 games for Milan and scored 3 goals, winning a scudetto and two Italian Super Cups. He also boasts 22 appearances and one goal with the senior national team, with which he achieved second place at the 2012 European Championship and bronze at the 2013 Confederations Cup. In 2021 he embarked on his coaching career starting from Milan’s youth sector. He then took on the role of coach of Milan’s Primavera team, taking them to the semi-final of the Youth League in 2022-23 and to the final in the following one. In the 2024-25 season he coached Ternana in Serie C. In the last championship Abate, in his first experience in Serie B, was the protagonist, as coach of Juve Stabia, of an excellent year, which ended with the semi-final of the playoffs.
