An 18-year-old man from Beilen is suspected of involvement in a serious assault in a supermarket in Groningen. De Drent was arrested a week ago, the police said.
On January 21, a 19-year-old victim was seriously assaulted by a group of men in a supermarket on Oude Ebbingestraat. The man is said to have made a comment on the street about traffic, after which he was attacked.
The 19-year-old man was seriously injured and ended up in hospital. Shortly after the assault, one suspect was arrested. It concerns a 20-year-old man from Groningen.
During the investigation into the assault, the police recently shared images of four other suspects. A week and a half ago, one of these men reported himself to the police.
In the investigation that followed, the 18-year-old man from Beilen came into the picture. He was arrested on June 4. Ultimately, a third suspect also reported himself to the police this week.
The police have now also identified the two remaining suspects thanks to tips received. The photos that were published of the men have therefore been taken offline.
The police say that the investigation into the suspects continues. The next steps will be decided together with the Public Prosecution Service.
