Albert Verlinde suffered an injury to his hand during Gay Pride. What the hell has he been up to? Was his wild man Onno Hoes involved? No. He stood there waving all day.

The army once invited him to the Canal Parade, but Albert Verlinde did not like that pink party very much. The regular of the failed RTL Tonight has suffered some kind of injury to his hand. At the end of the day he had terrible pain in his limb. And now he doubts whether he ever wants to go on a Gay Pride boat again.

A kind of tic

What’s the problem? Albert waves quite fanatically. Individually. To everyone. For hours, through the canals of Amsterdam, as if he knows each of the hundred thousand spectators personally and wants to greet them all equally warmly. His hand barely survived. Now, after years, he is telling his story RTL Tonight.

The show expert: “I was once on a boat like that. I saw you last year and I admired you. I hated it. I was invited by the army; finally called up once. With the minister and so on. But I’ve been waving all day and I have a kind of tic.”

Wave problem

What kind of tic does Albert have? “I really wave to people very personally, so no Máxima thinks: I wave a little. And I was devastated at the end of the day. RTL has been asking me for two years now if I also want to come on board, but yes.”

He’s holding off on that now. “What I had last year: I sat on the side of a boat. That’s wonderful, with a glass of wine and a hamburger and you don’t have to wave.”
