The groups for the 2027 Handball World Cup have been determined. Bob Hanning particularly likes one of the DHB stars’ tasks.
Tunisia, Serbia and Uruguay are the German preliminary round opponents at the 2027 Handball World Cup. The team of national coach Alfred Gislason will play all three games in Munich.
Handball expert Bob Hanning sees the encounter with Serbia as a “particularly great game,” as the 58-year-old reacted to the draw in his “kicker” column.
Hanning recalled that the DHB selection made a mistake against the Serbs at the European Handball Championship in January with 27:30 and things got heated in the final phase. “I think Alfred Gislason’s team is particularly looking forward to it,” said Hanning.
Hanning on the sidelines at the Handball World Cup
Tunisia is actually “past the peak” but is still “always unpleasant to play,” said the handball expert about the ten-time African champions. According to the long-time HBL official, he has “little opportunity to say anything” about Uruguay.
Exciting: In the second round the German national handball team could meet Italy, here Hanning is on the sidelines.
“A draw is always a starting signal for euphoria and enthusiasm, because now everyone knows where they are going and who is playing against whom. The German group is what sets this international apart. With Serbia, a team with a lot of heart is coming to us in Munich, and Tunisia is also making it very attractive. But we want to push Germany forward in Munich and I am looking forward to it as an ambassador for the home World Cup,” the DHB quoted Dominik Klein as saying. The left winger was part of the winter fairy tale in 2007.
