Almost a week after his departure from FC Ingolstadt 04, Max Besuschkow (29) has found a new club. The midfielder remains in the 3rd division and joins MSV Duisburg, where he is the first new signing. Besuschkow played 34 third division games last season, in which he contributed five goals and six assists.

“We are also firmly convinced, based on the analysis of the past season, that we want to strategically strengthen our central midfield. With Max we are getting an experienced playmaker with very high game intelligence and high passing quality; he reads a game and takes responsibility for making decisions during the game that help the team in the different phases of a game. In the very good discussions we got to know a player who has a higher level of experience and is extremely hungry to get back there. That’s why we are happy that we can convince him of our idea and our path were convincing,” said sporting director Christopher Schmoldt.

Besuschkow, who will wear the number 17, added: “I’m really looking forward to the new task at MSV, to this traditional club with its charisma, to the team, the fans – and the perspective that convinced me from the start. I quickly felt in the discussions that something could happen here, and that’s exactly the path I want to follow. That’s why it was clear to me personally that I no longer saw my future in Ingolstadt. There was the possibility of an extension there But I consciously decided that I wanted to do something new – at and with the game club. I made this decision with full conviction!”
