Who will win the title this year?

The 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico is getting closer. The teams are preparing for the tournament, experts are discussing the favorites. Will an established title candidate prevail or will an outsider pull off a big coup?
The 2026 World Cup will make history in several ways. For the first time, a World Cup will be held in three countries and for the first time 48 teams will take part. The tournament is spread over a huge area from Canada to the USA to Mexico. This brings new logistical challenges for the teams: long journeys, different climate zones and changing kick-off times.
At the same time, the expansion of the field of participants is likely to change the dynamics of the tournament. More teams mean more games, more possible constellations and therefore more room for surprises. Outsiders who might not have been present at previous tournaments could now play a larger role.
Home advantage and outsider chances
Another aspect is the home advantage. Three hosts are represented: the USA, Canada and Mexico. Historically, hosts have often performed better at World Cups than their pure squad quality would suggest. The support in the stadium, the familiarity with the conditions and the symbolic tailwind of a home tournament can release additional strength.
There is also the question of the classic “secret favorites”. Nations always manage to advance far into the tournament with a well-rehearsed team, clever tactics and a good run. It remains to be seen which teams could take on this role in 2026 – and we are particularly interested in your expectations.
