TSV 1860 Munich is terminating the cooperation agreement with investor Hasan Ismaik with immediate effect. The club announced this on Thursday evening. The right to play in the regional league now lies with the parent club again.
Many fans are breathing a sigh of relief, the future of the club is still uncertain, but one thing is clear: TSV Munich from 1860 eV has separated from investor Hasan Ismaik. As the association announced on Thursday evening, the eV “terminated the cooperation agreement concluded on May 30, 2011 with HAM International Limited for good cause with immediate effect.”
Ismaik doesn’t pay – eV terminates the contract
The Lions are thus ending their collaboration with Ismaik after 15 years. It’s the club’s reaction to that relegation to the regional league that was announced the day before. After the investor unexpectedly canceled loans that had already been approved, according to the club’s management, TSV 1860 Munich failed to prove its liquidity by the DFB’s deadline on Wednesday. Ismaik had not paid the missing 2.7 million euros, which meant that, in the eyes of the eV, he had not fulfilled an essential aspect of the cooperation agreement.
On the club’s website it says about the cooperation agreement: “It states, among other things, that the co-partner Hasan Ismaik will provide the necessary financial resources for the gaming operations of TSV Munich from 1860 GmbH & Co. KGaA if the company’s own funds are not sufficient for this.”
Regional league approval for TSV Munich from 1860 eV
The statement continued: “With a view to the 2026/2027 season, TSV 1860 Munich is taking all organizational and formal legal measures necessary. TSV Munich from 1860 eV has already been approved by the Bavarian Football Association for the Bavarian Regional League.”
The club management thus ensured that TSV Munich von 1860 could compete as an eV in the regional league, as the KGaA’s right to play was linked to the cooperation agreement.
Ismaik also releases a statement
The investor himself also made a statement on Thursday, even before the club made the termination of the contract public. In it, he made a request: “Before we blame a single person for everything that has happened over the past few years, let us ask ourselves a simple question: Did that person actually have the authority to make the decisions for which we hold him responsible? An honest question worth pondering.”
It is still unclear whether Hasan Ismaik will take legal action against the termination of the contract. The day before, the Jordanian had spoken of “great sadness” about the developments. Even in intensive discussions between him and the club management, no solution could be found for what he saw as the fundamental problem of getting recurring financial deficits under control. The sporting results were also not satisfactory.
“Unfortunately, in the end we were unable to reach the necessary consensus between all parties involved,” writes Ismaik on Facebook. He hopes that the current situation will be the “starting point for an honest assessment and a better future.”
“Freedom for Sixty”: Fans react positively
The fans’ reaction to the post published by the club on Instagram was mostly positive. Many people thank you for this step. Some write “Finally!”, there is even talk of “Freedom for Sixty.” Many Lions supporters have long been calling for the club to be separated from the Jordanian investor.
