Record fine for tax authorities due to blacklist

The Dutch Data Protection Authority (AP) has fined the Tax Authorities of 3.7 million euros. The privacy watchdog announced this on Tuesday. The reason for the fine is the blacklist on which the tax authorities kept personal data of possible fraudsters for years, the Fraud Signaling Facility (FSV). There were about 270,000 people on it, many of them without their knowledge. This is in violation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). Never before has the AP imposed such a high fine.
