Breel Embolo is actually part of the Swiss World Cup squad. However, the ex-Bundesliga professional was unable to travel to the USA for the time being.

Former Bundesliga professional Breel Embolo was thwarted by the authorities before the Swiss national team left for the World Cup. The Swiss association announced that the 29-year-old cannot fly to the USA with the team for the time being. However, it is assumed that the ex-striker from Borussia Mönchengladbach and Schalke 04 will be able to travel there soon.

The player’s electronic travel authorization (ESTA) was approved by Tuesday morning, the association said. “At 10:30 a.m. we received information that his ESTA was being clarified again.” We are now in contact with the authorities.

World Cup quarters in San Diego

At Zurich Airport, Embolo was provided with an employee of the agency with which the Swiss organized their trip to the XXL tournament in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Their opening World Cup opponent on June 13th is Qatar.

Embolo played for FC Schalke 04 and Borussia Mönchengladbach in the Bundesliga from 2016 to 2022. Last year he played two friendly games in the USA with the Swiss – and scored a goal in both the 4-2 win against Mexico and the 4-0 win against the Americans.
