Ronald de Boer has suddenly been added to the RTL Boulevard team. He is the program’s new World Cup expert, so sports expert Fatima Moreira de Melo seems to have been pushed aside.
Ronald de Boer’s debut is over: he was seen at the desk last night of the program. “Ronald de Boer, welcome. Former international of course and analyst at Ziggo Sport. Great that you are here now. Yes, the World Cup is approaching and that means that you will also be here with us in the studio more often. That is very nice,” says Vivienne van den Assem.
Reliability
National coach Ronald Koeman has announced the World Cup selection of the Dutch national team and Ronald was invited to tell us something about it. “What struck me: it was somewhat expected that Koeman goes for reliability. Actually, not many surprises. The only surprise in my eyes is Summerville.”
RTL Boulevard also wants to know: are all those internationals allowed to take their sweethearts to America? “It actually used to be not done. Everything had to be focused on the football and no distractions and such. They had the feeling that that could make all the difference. That’s different now. I think Louis van Gaal played a large part in this with family days.”
“I’ll just drop by!”
However, those football women must keep a low profile, says Ronald. “I expect that they will let the family come over during that last practice match here in the Netherlands, especially after the match. I think they will certainly see the family in America as well. It is an intense trip, but if they are there, they can certainly come by.”
“But just because you’re my wife doesn’t mean you can say, ‘I’ll drop by, honey!’ In top sport, one or two percent less focus can cost you the match.”
‘Quick again!’
We will regularly see Ronald at the RTL Boulevard desk in the run-up and during the World Cup. “It’s nice to have you here and again very soon, isn’t it?”, says Vivienne.
Ronald enthusiastically: “Yes, you will see me more often!”
