US clothing retailer Levi Strauss & Co. unveiled its growth plans for the East Asia Pacific (EAP) region on Monday. As part of an “aggressive expansion strategy,” the company plans to open 100 new points of sale in Thailand alone in the first half of the year, according to a recent post on the company’s Unzipped blog.
The denim specialist also announced that it would be opening new stores for its core Levi’s brand in Japan, Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand. At the same time, existing shops and shop-in-shop areas in the region are to be converted to the new “NextGen Indigo” store format. The concept includes additional digital service offers and innovative equipment elements such as LED screens. Levi Strauss explained that tailoring workshops would also be set up in selected branches to enable the products purchased to be personalized.
“We are committed to the future success of our company at all levels and are rethinking what we do and how we do it to succeed in today’s market environment,” said Nuholt Huisamen, Managing Director and Senior Vice President, East Asia Region -Pacific. “We are preparing for strategic changes in our business model and operations, and embracing the technologies of tomorrow to drive innovation, better serve our customers and create greater value for our stakeholders.”
The measures now announced in the East Asia-Pacific region are one element of the “ambitious plan to accelerate the company’s sustainable growth and drive economic success,” the clothing supplier said.
