Big change at Sky Ticket! Users must act

Sky Ticket customers are currently being informed about a change in the payment method. The change is forcing many to act.

Many Sky Ticket users have their monthly fee collected by direct debit. But this is exactly where Sky has announced changes that will come into effect in June. From this point on, the payment service provider Klarna takes over the billing at Sky, which may pose problems for some customers.

Klarna takes over direct debit at Sky

So far, Sky has offered three options for billing the monthly Sky ticket subscription. On the one hand, direct debit from the account, on the other hand, payment of the invoice via PayPal or credit card. Anyone who does not have a credit card and did not want to process the billing via a third-party provider such as Paypal had a good alternative with the direct debit procedure. But that is changing now that Sky has entrusted a third-party provider with billing from June.

The Swedish company Klarna will then handle all payment transactions by direct debit for Sky in the future. The streaming provider is currently informing affected customers about the change by e-mail. At the same time, the email will ask you to agree to Klarna’s terms and conditions. If you don’t do this, the “direct debit” payment method will no longer be available to you from June. You will then have to switch to paying by credit card or PayPal if you want to continue using Sky Ticket.

Customers may be left behind

Sky justifies the change with an optimization of the IT system, which should optimize the billing process for customers. However, outsourcing the billing process is also a worthwhile step for Sky, as the company no longer has to regulate the processes itself. The cooperation with Sky should also have positive consequences for Klarna, as the company can thus further expand its services and customer base in Germany. The payment service provider had recently announced a cooperation with Ebay.

However, the partnership between Sky and Klarna is likely to have less positive consequences for customers who find it difficult to hand over banking transactions to other companies. Because they may now be forced to change.
