Marieke Elsinga will temporarily stop working for Qmusic. The morning show with Mattie Valk has been costing her too much energy lately, she says shortly after the rumors about her radio future.
They make the most important program of Qmusic: Mattie Valk and Marieke Elsinga. However, their duoship is immediately put on pause, because Marieke needs rest. She made that known this morning through an audio message on their morning show. “Dear listeners, good morning, Marieke here.”
Marie is tired
Marieke does not want to be in the studio for a while. “I’m just texting to explain why you can’t hear me on the radio. I often get the question: how do you keep it up? That you make both radio and television. My answer to that is just always: I just think this is the best thing to do. It gives me a lot of energy.”
Now that’s a bit different. “Lately I’ve noticed that it costs me a lot of energy. So I decided to step on the brakes for a moment. To make sure that in two years I can still say: I just think this is the best thing to do. And that’s why I’m going to take it easy for a while.”

What will Mary do then? “You won’t hear me on the radio in the morning, but I’m going to get a good night’s sleep. Lots of cuddling with Kiki, doing fun things with friends, with Sander, with family. And just get back that energy that I just love so much. So hence. I just wanted to tell you that myself.”
She continues: “So I’m sending this message through Mattie. Matt, while I’m talking to you. I put a pack of goat yogurt in the large fridge next to the window at Q last week, but I’m not going to eat it now. And I don’t think any of Q eats that goat yogurt, so you want to throw it away? Otherwise, it will eventually run out of the fridge on its own. Thanks.”
Mattie is disappointed
Mattie finds it very annoying for Marieke. “Like I said, I’ve known this for a few days. And I’m going to just be honest: I find it quite difficult. And that’s not even about this program, because of course it continues. But Marieke is also just a very good friend of mine. And you want your friends to be okay.”
The radio maker continues: “I sometimes get mad at her, but I also love her. And I thought for a moment: damn it, what a cunt. Especially for her. I am also going to say right away: this train will just keep running.”
Rumors
The news about Marieke follows shortly after the rumor thrown into the world by the well-known radio columnist Patrick Kicken. He wrote last weekend that Marieke will stop with the morning show on Qmusic to start working for Radio 538. An early morning show would not be compatible with her wish to have children.
Marieke’s management says that this is not the case. “Marieke is completely at home at Qmusic, there is absolutely no question of a switch. She doesn’t plan to do that in the coming years.”
