Anyone who rents out a residence occasionally, for a maximum of 120 days per year, will now pay 275 euros in tax per year. For other accommodation this is 825 euros. The new scheme applies until 2031.

According to the city, holiday rentals result in additional costs related to safety, waste management and maintenance of the public domain. “Coastal municipalities have their own character and operation,” says Budget Alderman Maxim Donck.

Ostend is also further committed to digitalization. In the meantime, 236 providers have already spontaneously registered with the city.
