Dennis and Dana Diekmeier were married for 16 years. Now they are separated. Dana publishes an emotional post about it on Instagram.

Former Hamburg professional soccer player Dennis Diekmeier and his wife Dana are no longer together. She announced the end on Instagram on Monday evening: “Some paths in life change – even if you would have wished it differently,” she wrote in a post.

Dana Diekmeier emphasized that the past few months had been “very challenging” for the family. A lot has changed. She then announced that she had now had time to process everything. “After 16 years of marriage, Dennis and I are going our separate ways,” she continued. “I ask you from the bottom of my heart for understanding and to deal with this situation respectfully.” Her first priority is their children, for whom she wants to be there every day.

The Diekmeiers have four children. The 15-year-old daughter Delani, who suffers from cancer, needs special support. First, she was diagnosed with a malignant tumor in her adrenal gland. Although this was removed with surgery, it spread to both lungs.

Because of this, the young person has to go to the hospital again and again. She is currently considered to be terminally ill. Last year, a special nuclear medicine therapy was used in which the girl was given a radioactive agent. This substance is supposed to be absorbed specifically by the tumor cells, thereby fighting them.
