Marjolein Moorman would like to sit down at the table at Today Inside, while the man from the PvdA-GroenLinks politician throws up on the program. “Bad for my health.”
It has been the most influential talk show in our country for years: Today Inside. The program undeniably has a right-wing signature, but progressive types are also welcome. Jesse Klaver was recently sitting at the table. His fellow party member Marjolein Moorman would also like to visit Wilfred Genee’s show.
Chat along
Marjolein is generally skeptical about talk shows. “Sometimes I think during the talk shows: who is sitting at the table? Are they people who know their stuff or are they there because they can chat about everything?” she says in the VARA guide.
She continues: “It appears everywhere that in all talk shows guests are mainly invited from the right-wing spectrum. I grew up with In de rooie haan and Achter het nieuws. That was a clear left-wing sound. On TV I see that real left-wing sound less and less. I miss that.”
Bad for health
Her husband Harmen van der Veen, with whom she has two daughters and a dog, believes that the quality of talk shows has deteriorated considerably. “The very best talk show was Barend and Van Dorp. There were serious questions and there was humor in it. It was about something.”
What does he think of VI? Terrible. “Sometimes talk shows are bad for my health, like Today Inside, for example. That’s more of a kind of theater.”
Marjolein wants to go to VI
Marjolein agrees in principle. “And yet I would sit there if I were invited. If I have something to say, yes. I would find it cowardly not to go. And if it becomes too sexist, I will say something.”
Harmen: “You can do that very well.”
Where does she prefer to sit? “I think Eva is the best talk show host. She is really interested in her guests and gives the best of herself to make it a great show.”
