Chantal Janzen causes annoyance with the good way in which she presents The Voice of Holland, especially because she had a more villainous character at the beginning of her career. “Musical tune!”

We already have enough slime stars and that is precisely why Chantal Janzen was so refreshing at the start of her TV career. “She can play hockey, that girl!” she once shouted after a failed musical performance by Fatima Moreira de Melo. Nowadays the presenter is mainly busy keeping a straight face, says Marcus den Blanken.

Musical tutje

AD media editor Marcus is disappointed in the way Chantal currently presents The Voice of Holland. “I’m really done with Chantal Janzen’s positive stuff,” he says in the AD Media Podcast. “She is a good presenter, eloquent and she can make sharp jokes, but she has been transformed into a musical actress.”

“She stands there like you’re at a musical premiere and asks, ‘Hey, what do you think of this musical you’re doing tonight?’ Then you always get such a wonderfully positive sound that it is all great.”

Compliments

Chantal is acting too exaggerated, Marcus thinks. “There was a candidate who was not good at all, Dinand Woesthoff was planning to send her home, but first she had to receive compliments from Chantal Janzen on how well she had done. It could also be a little more neutral!”

“I understand that you are nice to those candidates, but you can do with a little less compliments. You can also say: ‘Great performance!’, instead of saying that it is all great, fantastic and sublime.”

Typhoid occurrence

AD journalist Gudo Tienhooven does not understand the point. “What should you do then? ‘What a typhoid performance!’” he says. But: “I agree with you that Chantal is at her best when she can be her ironic self.”

Marcus: “This is really so nothing.”

Their famous colleague Angela de Jong concludes: “Just give her another program in which she can express all her own qualities!”
