Sed on the bed in his room, with his fingers massaging his forehead due to the effort of his memory and his gaze fixed on the manuals, Riccardo Fabbriconi gives back to social media an unpublished fragment of his new normality. Stripped of the pop star’s clothes, Blanco is measured with the complex routine of those who have chosen to catch up with schooltackling the intense study sessions typical of the month of June.

In the short video published on social media, the singer reviews aloud the technicalities of economic civil lawrepeating the basic concepts of the discipline almost by heart: «The object of the right… goods can be defined as a right only if they have three characteristics: utility, accessibility and limitation. And goods are divided into tangible goods and intangible goods.”
To ensure the correctness of the exposition there is not a teacher, but rather a completely singular assistant: a cockatiel parrot with gray and yellow plumage, perched motionless on his shoulder. A tender image that dampens the severity of legal codes.
Make up for lost time
The coexistence between the study of law and the passion for Latin (which he defined in a recent interview as a real “logical structure”) reveals the details of his path.
Blanco has dropped out of school in 2021 at 18 and today he finds himself today facing the path as a private individual. This means that the June exam session may not yet be the actual high school leaving exam, but rather the delicate exam phase suitability or admission exams. These are crucial sessions in which the student must demonstrate that he has assimilated the programs of the years previously skipped, condensing different subjects to obtain the definitive pass towards the State Exam.
Why Blanco stopped with music: «I want to be the best version of me»
The decision to stop to study, announced at the beginning of the year, takes on an enormous specific weight if contextualised with his artistic parable. Blanco chose to slow down at the moment of maximum commercial peak. After the triumph in Sanremo with Chills alongside Mahmood, the artist has scored one success after another: from the album In love – embellished by the historic duet with Mina in A bit of joy – up to the cinematographic and musical project of The sky was burning.
The choice to lock himself in his room to study takes on an extraordinary weight when compared to the last months of his career. On April 3rd Blanco published the his latest album of unreleased songs, But’, anticipated by singles like Crying at 90 And Damn anger.
But today he gives priority to school. The artist from Brescia rejected the discographic logic of “hit at all costs” to go back to studying at the age of 23, responding to a need for profound personal growth, which came after a period of crisis. «Now I know that I exist and I want to be the best version of me. I have to study, understand, not standardize myself”, he confessed. The books open on the bed and the effort of revising demonstrate that the commitment is real, one exam at a time.
