Are you living in a room in Kortrijk? That will cost you on average 370 euros
Anyone who wants to rent a student room in Flanders today pays an average of 424 euros. This is apparent from the new CIB-Huurbarometer about student rooms. “The rents for student rooms in Flanders have remained stable compared to the academic year 2020-2021,” says Kristophe Thijs, communications director of CIB Flanders.
“Scarce offer”
The rents for a flat in West Flanders are well below the Flemish average. In Kortrijk, the student city of our province, you pay 369 euros per month. In Bruges it will cost you 345 euros. “Bruges is not the student city par excellence, the offer via brokers is also scarce,” says Kristophe.
That is also the reason why there is no data for Bruges for the past few years. Those figures are there for Kortrijk. Compared to the 2019-2020 academic year, you paid 30 euros less per month for a room. This year you pay only 5 euros more per month than last academic year.
Hasselt leads the way throughout Flanders with an average of 475 euros. This is followed by Antwerp with 461 euros and Leuven (452 euros) in third place. Anyone who studies in Brussels and is looking for a room there pays an average of 431 euros per month. For those who want cheaper accommodation, you can look in the Limburg municipalities of Lanaken or Veldwezelt. Respectively, it will cost you 263 euros and 294 euros per month.
