The top five is completed by Noord-Beveland and Montfoort (around six Ukrainians per thousand inhabitants), Westerwolde and Oldebroek (five per thousand).
This is evident from the latest figures from Statistics Netherlands. Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine, 27,000 inhabitants of that country have registered with a Dutch municipality.
The fact that some municipalities have registered more refugees than others is ‘due to local initiatives to receive large groups of refugees in, for example, an empty office building’, according to Statistics Netherlands. The municipalities that receive the least refugees are Ameland, Best, Schiermonnikoog and Woudenberg, where zero Ukrainians are registered.
