The traffic police in East Brabant extensively checked on Tuesday for distraction in traffic. Agents in a coach checked on various highways, for example, whether motorists were holding a mobile phone.
According to the police, this happened on the A2, A50, A58, A59 and A67.
140 fines were issued, 119 of which were for holding a telephone. They were also fined for speeding offenses and ignoring an overtaking ban.
The fine for holding a phone while driving has been increased from 250 to 350 euros on 1 March.
