President of the International Olympic Committee Kirsty Coventry was like being hit on the head with a tree at the closing press conference of the Winter Olympics.
The Olympic boss was asked questions to which he had no answers. He stared at his own staff gravely when he hadn’t been kept up to date on the matters being discussed.
Among other things, Coventry was asked for his opinion on Germany’s possible hosting of the 2036 Olympics. It would be the centenary year of the 1936 Games hosted by Nazi Germany.
In his question, the reporter said that the German president does not like the idea. The Olympic Committee of each country applies for the Olympic Games.
– To be honest… I’m looking at my team now because I wasn’t aware that Germany had made any comments regarding 2036. So I don’t really have an opinion on that, he said annoyed.
Coventry was also told that the whistleblower had informed Wada, the world anti-doping agency, that at the 2014 Olympics in Šotsi, “a leading figure of the Russian anti-doping agency was a big influence among the athletes”.
For this question, too, Coventry turned to its staff.
– Or so. I look at my team again and maybe someone needs to be fired because I’m not aware of that one either. But I would be very interested in getting more information about it, the Olympic boss replied.

of The Sun according to Coventry’s statement, he referred to the IOC’s PR director, who earns more than 480,000 euros a year to Mark Adams.
After the last surprise question, Coventry was visibly irritated. He was asked about the head of the International Football Association Fifa Gianni Infantino from the latest twists.
Infantino, who is a member of the International Olympic Committee, wore a red USA cap when he signed the Board of Peace.
The questioner stated that this was a clear political line and asked if the IOC was looking into this.
– I was not aware of this either. Now that you have told us about it, we will come back to it and of course we will look into it. The Olympic Book is very clear in what it expects from its members, he stated.
Former swimmer Coventry won two Olympic gold medals in his sports career. He celebrated Olympic gold in Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008.
