Number of new positive corona tests is falling faster and faster | Inland

It will become clear on Tuesday how far the number of positive tests has fallen. Then the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) will publish its weekly figures for the 92nd time. Last Tuesday, the institute reported that it had registered 222,366 positive results from corona tests in the seven days before. That was 29 percent less than the week before.

Since then, the decline has only accelerated. In the six days after the last weekly figures, about 115,000 positive tests were registered, an average of more than 19,000 per day. The weekly figure for Tuesday can therefore come out at 130,000 to 140,000. That would be the lowest number since early January. Compared to last week, it would mean a drop of about 40 percent.

RIVM also reports on Tuesday how many people with corona among its members have ended up in hospital in the past week. Last week there were 1471 new recordings, of which 1195 because of the contamination. The rest had other complaints and also happened to be infected. Of the 1471, 118 ended up in intensive care, and the corona infection was the cause of 92. All those numbers were lower than the week before

RIVM registered 104 deaths at the hands of the virus last week. That was an increase, and the death rate is now likely to rise again.
