Element Of Crime – “Psycho”

The title is probably to blame. After such poetic albums as “White Paper”, “On a Sunday in April” and “The Beautiful Roses”, Element Of Crime suddenly come up with “Psycho”, which is also a bit stupid.

In addition, the pieces still sound quite dry and Jakob Ilja’s guitar creaks surprisingly hard, but as soon as you scratch the rough facade a bit, everything that defines the Elements comes to light: the melodies, which once again oscillate between pop, chanson and funfair, hook up tender, but firmly in the ears, and the lyrics oscillate so wonderfully between awakening and lethargy.

Smile even though it’s tragedy

First you are lulled by the beautifully sluggish “Holiday from you”, then you can smile a little at “Now you have to jump” and “Michaela says”, although they are actually tragedies. And “You told me” first!

Of all the songs about waiting, maybe the very best. When the last tones of “Because it was beautiful” are over, you definitely want to start all over again.

The most underrated albums of all time

Without concerts and festivals, we suddenly found ourselves thrown back on our record collections in the evening and realized that it’s often not the canonized classics that people particularly like to play.

Instead, they’re albums in the catalog of an artist you love that you seem to have all to yourself because the rest of the world has spurned them or forgotten them – misunderstood strokes of genius, unrecognized masterpieces, neglected key works and records that are just so much better than their reputation and deserve a re-evaluation.
