Weak series FC Volendam continues with a draw at Young PSV

For the sixth time in a row FC Volendam was unable to win. Wim Jonk’s team gave up a lead twice tonight against Jong PSV. The match in Eindhoven therefore ended in 2-2. Despite the bad run, the Volendam team are still second in the first division.

It was never boring at De Herdgang. From the first minute it was an open match between Jong PSV and FC Volendam. The best opportunity in the opening phase was for Nigel Thomas. His shot was saved with difficulty by Volendam goalkeeper Filip Stankovic.

In the 25th minute it hit the visitors. Bilal Ould-Chikh took a shot from about 25 meters and surprised keeper Maxime Delanghe with a mop ball: 0-1. The visitors couldn’t hold on to that score until halftime, as Maxi Romero equalized. The striker of the Eindhoven team went for the goal alone and he was knocked out by Stankovic. Referee Alex Bos gave a penalty that the Argentinian used the same. Moments later, Johan Bakayoko hit the bar.

Hit Mühren quickly undone

The game continued to go up and down in the second half. And again, both teams scored once. FC Volendam took the lead again via Robert Mühren’s 24th league goal. He convincingly headed a corner from Daryl van Mieghem against the ropes.

Young PSV was not discouraged. After an hour of playing, it was again the same. Richard Ledezma gave a through ball to Romero, after which he outwitted Stankovic with a seesaw.

FC then tried to encourage Volendam to take the three points with them to Noord-Holland, but that didn’t really produce any real opportunities. Due to the draw, the lead on number three Excelsior is now three points. Leader FC Emmen has six points more than Volendam. The numbers one and two are promoted to the Eredivisie.
