Man drives into officers in Oss: nine months in prison

The 41-year-old man from Oss who ran into police officers in Heesch in December last year was given nine months in prison and a one-year driving ban.

In the center of Oss, the man received a stop sign on Friday afternoon, December 10, because the car he was driving was not registered. However, the driver of the car fled at high speed. The man was under the influence of the hard drug amphetamine. He ran into a number of police officers during the wild chase. The car was hit by police cars. The officers were unharmed.

According to the public prosecutor, there was a quadruple attempted manslaughter, because the suspect would have put the life of the officers in police cars. According to the court, it cannot be established with certainty that there was a great chance that the officers would die as a result of his driving behaviour.

It is certainly not the first time that the man showed inappropriate driving behaviour. He has been convicted seven times for driving without a license. In Oss he also drove without a driver’s license. He has now been convicted again. The man was often under the influence behind the wheel. Fifteen of his cars have since been seized.
