Twan Huys has seriously crossed the line in RTL Tonight by stealing the interview with Minister David van Weel from presenter Leonie ter Braak, according to Angela de Jong. “That’s really not possible.”
The presenters of RTL Tonight alternate every week this year, which means that the newest addition Leonie ter Braak is currently on the air six evenings in a row. On Sunday evening she had an interview with David van Weel, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, about the various conflicts currently taking place on the world stage.
Mansplaining
Angela de Jong was in front of the TV and was terribly annoyed. “I found it embarrassing on Sunday evening. She had David van Weel, the minister, and she couldn’t actually ask him a question, because Twan Huys was there,” she gushes in the AD Media Podcast.
NPO star Twan has really overplayed his hand, according to the AD opinion diva. “He did the interview for a while and he didn’t let the man finish talking. Then I thought: oh, quite an example. mansplaining here, because the blonde presenter certainly can’t do it, in the eyes of some people.”
‘That’s not possible’
Should Twan get on his knees for Leonie? Should he say sorry to her? Yes, says Angela. “Yes, I really didn’t think that was possible. I thought he went way over the line with that. Especially in her first broadcast, I thought he kind of put her aside.”
She concludes with a sneer at the presenter: “I don’t think Leonie will make a difference in this program.”
