The first report of the fire came to the control room around 5:25 p.m. The fire was quickly scaled up to a major fire, which means that the fire brigade goes to the fire with many units.
About half an hour later the fire was under control, says spokesperson for the Kennemerland Safety Region Ger van der Herberg. “The dormer window was burning heavily at the front and back. We are now still looking for sources of fire with a thermal camera.”
Lots of damage
According to the spokesperson, the houses next to the house where the fire broke out were spared. The affected home itself suffered extensive fire damage. “A lot of water was also used to extinguish the fire, so it all seeped down.”
The spokesperson does not know whether the residents will be able to sleep at home today.
