What should the center of Eelde look like in the near future? There is a proposal on the table in the Tynaarlo municipal council chamber with plans that future projects must comply with. The opinions of the council are divided, parking in particular is a major point of discussion.
Work has been going on for years on the development of the center of Eelde. The ‘Masterplan’ for the center was presented in 2024. “The ideal picture,” said councilor Jurryt Vellinga (Livable-Municipal Interests) at the time. The next step is more realistic and 1.3 million euros are also being requested to tackle the public space.
The city council is asked to agree to various things. At the top is the urban development plan, which the locations to be developed must comply with, and the image quality plan for the appearance of buildings. The aim is to renew the center and make it lively with a mix of culture, housing and retail. “In short, a center that Eelde deserves as a village,” said the councilor during the committee meeting.
The land in the center of Eelde is partly owned by the municipality and partly not. The developments are being realized by various parties. Among other things, 65 homes should be added, more shops and a cultural center. The first part of the committee meeting in the council shows that the parties are happy with the plans.
