Jethro Rostedt found himself in a tight spot in Colombia.
Rostedt, who is traveling in South America, says that he was robbed by the police in the city of Medellín.
According to the traveler, the incident happened “in very bright daylight” on Monday at around three in the afternoon local time.
This is how the situation progressed
Rostedt says that he was riding in a taxi with his son when a couple of policemen directed the taxi to the side.
The police asked for passports, but the two only had ID cards with them.
– Get out of the car and another police officer checked us. Another police officer checked the car, Rostedt tells Iltalehte in a message.
– A hellish blink and the police apparently shows a bag of drugs or something similar and says it’s mine.
Rostedt says that when the police checked him again, 300 euros were found in his back pocket. Surprisingly, the police found out how much of a fine he is demanding – and in what currency.
– The police use a phone translator and say that the fine is 300 euros – which is special when these euros are not used here, the traveler says.
– And if I don’t pay, then we’ll go to the institution.

A longer investigation with the police did not appeal.
– I didn’t want to see that building or experience it, so I gave the money to the police. Then back to the car and told the skis to go.
The situation was tense, but one bad experience does not overshadow all the good things experienced on the way.
– Having made a few trips in my life, I can tell you that the situation was exciting, says Rostedt.
– Well, it hurts and happens in the world. Colombia is an absolutely amazing country and Medellín is a wonderful city. Nothing else could have been done in that situation.
On Tuesday, the duo “pulls the switch” and goes “to a more special place, to Amazon”, says Rostedt.
Rostedt told about the incident first on his Twitch channelwith which he updates his travel reports.
Rostedt hopes that one unpleasant story will not scare anyone so much that they will not travel to Medellín, which he praises as a wonderful city. Jethro Rostedt’s photo archive
