Two years after his serious fall, ski star Aleksander Aamodt Kilde has decided not to compete at the scene of the accident in Wengen this weekend. “It’s just a little too early this year,” said the Norwegian via Instagram. Instead, he wants to concentrate on training days.
In January 2024, Kilde lost control at the finish on the Lauberhorn descent and crashed violently into the safety nets. The 33-year-old then had to undergo multiple operations. An infection in the shoulder made the healing process more difficult.
For a long time it wasn’t clear whether he would ever return to the big ski stage. But at the end of November he made his comeback after almost two years of suffering. Experts believe it is possible that the 2020 overall World Cup winner could compete for a podium place again at the Winter Olympics in Italy in February.
