PThe Sartori family saga continues. Up tonight Rai 1 at 9.30 pm the second episode of Daniele Luchetti’s series will be broadcast Before uswith Linda Caridi and Andrea Arcangeli. Last week, the fiction that retraces twenty years of Italian history, it was watched by 2.5 million viewers.
Tonight the specter of the Second World War loomswhile Domenico, Gabriele and Renzo grow up with different passions and sensitivities. The head of the family is increasingly tormentedespecially after having betrayed his friend Leone, forced into confinement for years. The country’s fascists threaten Maurizio to extort the names of their opponents. In a complex context, the advent of the cinema in the town temporarily distracts from daily worries.

Maurizio (Andrea Arcangeli) runs away into the woods when Domenico is stung by a viper. This is how last week’s episode of Before us. Luckily the son regains consciousness, bringing some serenity back to his parents and siblings. However, the head of the family cannot find peace: the worry of having deserted during the great war haunts him.
We are in 1931, and Maurizio comes he is blackmailed by the Becchiarutti, the town’s fascistswho have in their hands a photograph of him, on the day of the armistice, with his wife Nadia (Linda Caridi). It is impossible if he had participated in the last moments of the war. The man is blackmailed and beaten: he must name the names of the fascists’ opponents otherwise he could end up in prison. Maurizio doesn’t agree, but when Renzo is threatened, he gives in.

He betrays Leone (Fausto Maria Sciarappa), the only friend he had. The former soldier no longer knows what kind of man he is. One way to overcome the feeling of guilt is to take care of Leone’s children together with Nadia. But the pain tears him apart. Meanwhile, his children are growing up: Domenico is increasingly sensitive towards the weak and needy; Gabriele is happy among books, while Renzo is looking for freedom and finds any excuse not to study.
Maurizio embraces Leone again, his betrayed friend
Maurizio betrays his best friend, but after seven years he hugs him again. Time is running. We are in 1938, the threat of the Second World War worries Maurizio and Nadia. Finally Leone returns from confinement after several years: his sons became men while he was gone. Domenico, Renzo and Gabriele also grow.

Nadia’s mother dies and to come into contact with the deceasedthe daughter relies on a medium who predicts the arrival of a new world war. Nadia and Maurizio are terrified at the idea. Another loss will hit the Sartori family. The audience will find out tonight.
Gabriele is passionate about literature, he takes refuge in books to live the life he cannot live. His dream is to teach Italian. Domenico has a strong sensitivity, as he did as a child, and cannot help but think of poor and needy people. On a rainy day he gives his sweater to a homeless man making his father furious. Renzo, on the other hand, works on a construction site, even if his obsession is girls.
The advent of the cinema in Before us
Gabriele, together with his brothers and his schoolmate Luciano, are preparing a special evening in the parish hall of the town: the cinema opens with a film by Buster Keaton. For a moment the laughter distracts from everyday life and from the fear of the advent of a new war. Nadia is excited when Gabriele. However, Maurizio was missing from that eveningman is once again suffocated by his own demons.
