The roads on the island were passable for traffic during the day. Ferry service TESO also continued to sail according to schedule today. The Texelhopper announced that travelers should expect delays, but the bus was not affected by cancellations.
The tourists still managed to find the island despite code orange. On the beach at Lighthouse Texel in De Cocksdorp, a group of British bird lovers shot images with impressive cameras. Although the wind was blowing hard and the beach was covered in snow, the group of friends was enthusiastic about taking images. “They’re just hard to find.”
Texel residents remain down-to-earth
On the south side, in Den Hoorn, North Holland sobriety prevailed. Owner Marc Leclou of Strandpaviljoen Twaalf told NH that he had completely missed the orange warning. He would have preferred to see more snow. “Then I could go sledding with my son.”
Two women who visited the beach with their children and live on Texel were also unaware of code orange. “I didn’t prepare anything and didn’t notice anything in the village. Life goes on as usual on the island.”
There is a good chance that Texel will experience snow again in the coming hours. The KNMI has extended the orange warning until 9 a.m. tomorrow morning.
