Dynamo Dresden is apparently working on signing goalkeeper Luca Philipp. According to reports, the 25-year-old will come from TSG 1899 Hoffenheim and help them stay in the second division. According to a report by the “Lausitzer Rundschau”, the “Bild” now also writes about the Saxons’ concrete interest in Philipp.
Good for Dynamo: It is said that the goalkeeper would also take the step from the Bundesliga to the lower house for his personal promotion from substitute to regular goalkeeper. However, TSG actually has no plans to give up Philipp because they would then have to find a replacement between the posts at short notice. Therefore, the realization of the transfer is currently questionable, which is why Dynamo also has to look at alternatives.
The Dresden team is in last place in the 2nd league before the start of the second half of the season. After 17 games there are only 13 points with 24:34 goals. In the first half of the season, promotion goalkeeper Tim Schreiber (23) was in the box eleven times, Lennart Grill, who arrived from Union Berlin on a free transfer in the summer, six times. However, the 26-year-old recently suffered a serious knee injury and will be out for a longer period of time. The goalkeeper trio is completed by Daniel Mesenhöler (30).
Philipp’s contract in Hoffenheim ends in the summer, so he would be available for free in six months. In the past, the Stuttgart player made a name for himself as a reliable representative of national goalkeeper Oliver Baumann (35), stopping eight times for the Kraichgauer professionals.
Dynamo Dresden’s sports director Gönther comments on the goalkeeper search
Dresden’s new sports director Sören Gonther said at the training camp in Antalya-Lara, Turkey: “There is no question that we will get another goalkeeper. But now in the winter the goalkeeper market is difficult. It was easier for the other positions.” Thomas Keller, Jonas Sterner, Robert Wagner and Jason Ceka have already been confirmed as winter newcomers; all players came on loan. According to Gonther, an offer was not made for keeper Philipp Schulze (22) from SC Verl, who was also traded.
A solution could bring either experience or development ability. “We looked at candidates in all directions. If what we set out to do works out, then it’s a mixture of both. But the basic criterion is always quality,” explained the ex-professional.
