In the first episode of ‘Blind Gekocht’ we saw how the entrepreneurial couple of the indoor playground Tarzan & Jane had a budget of 1 million euros for their home. The two had quite a few requirements: a swimming pool, a laundry room, a separate studio for their adult son and private bathrooms and dressings for their daughters. In addition, they did not want a house in a ribbon development, with a view from the neighbors. The couple also reacted negatively to the first proposal from broker Béa. It was too small and, according to Caroline, a typical example of ribbon development.
There was a lot of criticism of the couple on social media, which hit Caroline hard. Still, she can place the criticism somewhere. “I was also very shocked when I saw myself on television,” she tells Het Nieuwsblad. “If it were someone else, I think I would find them very conceited too. But of course the viewer doesn’t know the lengthy procedure that preceded it before we could see the house. There are many emotions and stress involved. Tension was building and we had created all kinds of expectations. If you suddenly get something completely different, you will be shocked.”
Caroline also reacts very emotionally to television. Many people think it’s because she has to leave the luxury behind in her home in Grobbendonk, but Caroline says there’s more to it. “I closed an entire chapter of my life there. My first husband, the father of my oldest son, had a serious accident at work. He was in a coma for a year and I took care of him for another three years in Grobbendonk. He eventually died of his injuries. Exactly today is his day of death, which makes it an extra difficult period now.”
