The late rock musician is honored on Yle.
Musician Pate Mustajärvi, who died on Boxing Day, will receive a memorial broadcast on Yle TV2 channel on January 3.
Pate Mustajärvi – Suomirock legend – broadcast features Mustajärvi’s longtime friends and colleagues, such as the founder of Poko Rekords Epe Heleniuscredit photographer Harri Hinkkafriend and duo-mate Matti Mikkonennephew and musician Jussi Aaltonen, actor and friend Jukka Leistievent producer and promoter Taija Holm and a long-term partner Aku Yrjä.
The live broadcast is hosted by Katja Ståhl.

– Pate was a true legend of Finnish rock. We want to offer Mustajärvi’s wide audience the opportunity to return to the stages of Pate’s career and to music with those who knew Pate well, says Yle’s events manager Jyri Kataja-Rahko in the bulletin.
The memorial broadcast will be organized in cooperation with the city of Tampere at Tampere-talo.
Mustajärvi, known as Popeda’s frontman, died on Boxing Day at the age of 69. He was diagnosed with a tumor in October. Later, the musician said in public that he has contracted cancer.
– Cancer’s devil threw a little curveball at the concert plans, but while on sick leave there is plenty of time to write, the singer wrote in November.
