What if you don’t like a Christmas present, a book is already on the shelf or the sweater doesn’t fit?
Almost every second person in Germany returns unpopular gifts in stores or online (49 percent). This is shown by a representative survey commissioned by the digital association Bitkom.
38 percent want to give the gifts away, 22 percent still want to keep them, and 18 percent of those surveyed want to sell the items. Eight percent donate unwanted gifts and one percent throw them away. Two percent say they will not receive any Christmas presents at all this year.
For the survey, Bitkom surveyed around 1,000 people aged 16 and over in Germany in October and November. Multiple entries were possible.
