The Young Lions humiliated Latvia in their second match of the under-20 World Cup with a dull 8-0 score.
Latvia’s goal was left in the previous day’s Canada match, where the Latvians dragged the decision all the way to overtime.
The match was expected to be difficult for the Young Lions, but Latvia’s fierceness did not bite the Finns.
Finland led the match after the opening set with a score of 3–0, and Latvia did not recover from this. The goal taps of the Young Lions opened Emil Hemming in the fifth minute of the match. Jasper Kuhdan and by Max Westergård hits at the end of the opening set paralyzed the Latvians.
Finland’s most effective players were Heikki Ruohonen (1+2) and Niklas Nykyri (0+3), who knocked three power points into the man. Westergård, Kuhta, Hemming, Joona Saarelainen, Lasse Boelius and Matias Vanhanen.
Petteri Rimpinen blocked a meager seven shots in the Finnish goal.
