Before she hosted the ski jumping highlight of the winter, the wedding bells rang for Lea Wagner. Two work colleagues were also at the celebration.

While the ski jumpers are preparing for the start of the Four Hills Tournament, ARD presenter Lea Wagner has already experienced her very personal highlight: she got married.

As “Bild” reports, Wagner said “yes” at the beginning of December. The wedding initially took place at the registry office in Bremen, followed by a free ceremony near the Hanseatic city.

The 31-year-old does not want to make public who her husband is. “Private remains private. I just want to protect myself, us, and hope that people will understand,” she told the tabloid. She has been with her partner for many years and the proposal was made the year before last.

At the couple’s request, no photos were published, and the approximately 100 guests were also not allowed to use cell phones. Among them were their ARD colleagues Sven Hannawald and Tom Bartels. Since Wagner took over the ski jumping broadcasts in 2021, she has had a close friendship with both of them. Wagner: “I think they both know almost everything about me. Whether it’s about moving, family, relationships – they are very good advisors.”

Now her attention turns to sports. Wagner: “As always, I hope for a German success. When Sven (Hannawald, editor) won, I was eight years old. So it was about time.”

This Sunday (4:30 p.m. live on ARD, Eurosport or in the t-online live ticker) the 74th Four Hills Tournament begins with qualification for the opening competition in Oberstdorf. Best German jumpers currently: Philipp Raimund (25) and Felix Hoffmann (27). The favorite is World Cup leader Domen Prevc (26) from Slovenia.
