Match against Feyenoord takes half too long for VV Alkmaar

VV Alkmaar lost at home against the women of Feyenoord tonight. The match in the women’s Eredivisie ended in 1-3. The North Hollanders took the lead early in the game.

Veerle van der Most took care of the 1-0 in the sixth minute. Mark de Vries’s team could then sit back. Feyenoord struggled to create opportunities, as a result of which no more goals were scored in the remainder of the first half.

The game turned quickly after the break. A minute after Pia Rijsdijk’s equalizer, Kim Hendriks gave the Rotterdam team a 2-1 lead. More than twenty minutes before the end, Feyenoord’s dominance was more clearly expressed in the score when Rijsdijk closed the game.

VV Alkmaar is seventh in the ranking with sixteen points after twenty matches. Feyenoord is the number three in the Netherlands. League-leader FC Twente won 5-0 against Excelsior tonight and has a three-point lead over number two Ajax Women. The team from Amsterdam will not be in action this weekend.
