The man, who may have psychological problems, ran amok in the city center of Bruges on Wednesday evening. He threw things out the window of his home.
When police arrived on the scene, he approached officers with a knife. “An officer then shot him in the chest,” says prosecutor Tom Janssens. “The man was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.”
Another police zone will now investigate what exactly happened. According to the public prosecutor’s office, images of the incident were made with a body camera.
