Norwegian biathlete Sivert Guttorm Bakken27, death has shocked sports circles far and wide.
Now his close friend and Italian colleague Tommaso Giacomel25, has released a touching post about her dead friend.
– Dear Sivert… to be honest, I’m completely broken. But I know this news will shock not only me, but all of us in the biathlon family and beyond. We were supposed to go skiing together today, but you didn’t show up, Giacomel wrote in his Instagram post.
According to Giacomeli’s publication, the friends were also supposed to spend the New Year together, but this plan did not come true either.
Rival brother considers Bakken’s fate unfair.
– Life has been as hard as it can be for you. It kept you from competing for two years, and now this. It’s not fair.
Giacomeli wrote that Bakken became one of his best friends during their years together on the racetrack.
– You will always have a special place in my heart. I will always carry you with me, he said.
On Tuesday, Bakken was found dead in his hotel room in Lavazè, Italy. The cause of death is currently unknown.
The Norwegian star has suffered from several health problems in his career. Among other things, he had a heart operation due to atrial fibrillation.
