Konrad Laimer is undoubtedly one of the best players of the season at FC Bayern. The word has also gotten around in his home country.

Konrad Laimer can call himself “Austria’s Footballer of the Year” for the first time. The Bayern professional clearly prevailed in the election of the Austrian Bundesliga coaches with 51 points against Christoph Baumgartner (16 points), Marko Arnautovic (15) and Otar Kiteishvili (10).

Austria’s national coach Ralf Rangnick praised Laimer as a “great and highly professional footballer” and was impressed by his new role in the defense: “Konny has contributed significantly to the success of FC Bayern and the Austrian national team this year.”

Laimer, who moved from RB Leipzig to Munich in 2023, recently impressed in various positions for the record champions – whether on the right, left or in midfield. For the 28-year-old, the award is a “great appreciation and at the same time an incentive”.

With 55 international matches, Laimer has long been one of the ÖFB’s leading players. The record winner of the election, which has been held since 1984, is David Alaba with ten awards.
