130 years of Eintracht Braunschweig: The club is giving the team and fans a special jersey. For many people, the joy about it only lasts for a short time.

It was a little surprise just before Christmas: presented last Saturday Eintracht Braunschweig a special jersey for the club’s 130th birthday. The BTSV supporters were able to use the online fan shop – but only for a short time. Because: The jersey was sold out after just a few hours.

Shortly afterwards, the club wrote in a statement about a “huge hype” and an “enormous rush”. On Sunday only individual children’s sizes were still available. The reason why many fans came away empty-handed: The club had limited the special jersey to 1,895 copies, alluding to the year the club was founded.

The design of the jersey, which is mostly white, was well received by many fans. The look is reminiscent of the early days of Eintracht. Even before blue and yellow became established as the main colors, the Lions wore white tops with black shorts and socks in 1895. The special jersey also features all the coats of arms from the club’s history and is arranged around the traditional red lion in the middle.

“130 years of Eintracht Braunschweig stand for identity, cohesion and a deep connection across generations. With this special jersey we want to make our roots visible and thank everyone who has shaped the club since 1895,” said Wolfram Benz, Commercial Director of Eintracht. “It is a sign of pride in our history – and a commitment to our future.”

However, what was less well received by the fans: Due to the strict limitation, many fans had to leave the online fan shop without having achieved anything. “It’s just stupidity to limit such a jersey,” writes one Facebook user, pointing out the merchandise revenue that the club is missing out on as a result.

Others are simply very disappointed at their unsuccessful attempt to get a jersey. “Unfortunately already sold out,” writes a user on Instagram after a short time. Another asks: “Will the jerseys come again or was that the only drop? Because unfortunately I missed it and would have liked one.”
