Annual guests of Cranendonck Castle were told on Friday morning that the park will be closed immediately. They were given up to four hours to pack their things and leave the park, according to an email obtained by Omroep Brabant.

Slot Cranendonck, which is part of Oostappen Holiday Parks, will not receive a new permit to operate the holiday park. As a result, the park, which Peter Gillis owns, is forced to close the site immediately.

Illegal living
In November 2024, an inspection revealed that people were living illegally in the park. The municipality of Cranendonck and Heeze-Leende decided to take a look at the holiday park after they heard that people would live there. This turned out to be true. During the inspection it became clear that a total of 45 people lived permanently in the park, while this is not permitted.

Catering industry closed
It is not the first time that the Gillis holiday park has made a mistake. In 2023, the municipality of Cranendonck withdrew the alcohol license of Slot Cranendonck. The municipality was afraid that Gillis was abusing the permit for criminal purposes. As a result, the catering industry had to close. However, this did not happen, so the municipality had to intervene after two months. As a result, the catering industry in the park closed completely.
