Before the tournament, Beau Greaves had attracted a lot of attention. At the Darts World Cup she failed in the first round.

With Beau Greaves, the last woman at the Darts World Championship was eliminated in the first round. The 21-year-old Englishwoman narrowly lost 2:3 to Northern Irishman Daryl Gurney. Lisa Ashton, Gemma Hayter, Noa-Lynn van Leuven and Fallon Sherrock had previously failed.

The junior world champion is now considered the best player in the world and has won 86 times in a row in the Women’s Series of the world association PDC. Also the world number 22. demanded Greaves forcefully. In the second set she managed to win a leg with just ten throws. But in the end, Gurney had a happier ending on his side.

“For me, she is the best player on the planet,” said the 39-year-old, who took a deep breath after the decisive throw and then hugged Greaves encouragingly. “Even from a male perspective, this woman has balls. She will win some PDC tournaments.”
