The accident happened this morning between a car and a motorcyclist. “Despite the efforts of emergency medical services, the motorcyclist died from his injuries,” the police said.
Due to the accident, the A5 towards Hoofddorp is closed at the Raasdorp junction. Traffic will be diverted from the Raasdorp junction via the A9.
The police are still investigating the circumstances of the accident. The A5 is expected to remain closed until the end of the morning.

The connecting roads at the junction are also closed. This applies to traffic from both Amstelveen towards Alkmaar and from Alkmaar towards Amstelveen.
The accident causes major traffic disruption on the A9. “The connecting road is closed there to prevent road users from entering the A5,” an ANWB spokesperson explains. “In addition, the large amount of traffic that detours is now causing congestion on the A9.”
There is 12 kilometers of slow-moving to stationary traffic between the Velsen junction and the Badhoevedorp junction. The additional travel time is approximately 13 minutes.
